While typically thought of for use in HVAC jobs, foil tapes are also useful for abatement and restoration applications involving metal and sheet metal repair, such as sealing up ductwork after a hole has been cut into it to check for water damage after a fire or flood.

UL Listing (code compliance) is the most important factor to consider when choosing a foil tape because not using the right tape for the job could lead to failure during an inspection, causing lost time, extra costs, and lots of headaches. Other things to consider are the tape’s performance in a range of temperatures and environmental conditions like humidity and dryness, as well as its ability to produce permanent, airtight and waterproof seals.
