How to Identify Printed HVAC Tape

Printed HVAC Tape

The use of a printed HVAC tape helps HVAC system inspectors to identify the tape and determine whether the materials used adhere to the standards and codes required. Most UL listed tapes feature the manufacturer’s file number as well as the UL code on the tape’s backing so inspectors can quickly confirm that it meets the necessary UL performance requirements. If printed HVAC tape was not used, this can suggest that an incorrect type of tape was used instead, which can put the HVAC system at risk for issues including possible air leaks.
